A Career or Grad School?
This was one of my biggest inspirational videos growing up, and flows with the following.
For years I have done what I love: create video. I can’t think of a more exciting or enjoyable thing to do. However, a career in producing video is simply not what I’ve strived to do, as it lacks the solidity and value of other professions. As an example, something specific like a TV promo editor, is relatively simple. It’s seems like a finite role, with little room for career growth. That’s why new media was such an exciting alternative, right out of school. You’re sort of allowed to do anything, and it encourages creativity versus stagnancy. But, I’m tired of it.
Having spent time doing a ton of new media work, I need to decide where to go next. Recently, I have been faced with the choice:
Do I attend grad school and further my knowledge, or land in my comfort zone, and the same place I have been for years?
Quite honestly the choice seems easy to me, or for anyone who wants to reach higher. More education seems like the best thing to do… but in this economy, is spending massive amounts of loan money really worth the potential outcome, or would the self-education route better? Or scrapping the idea entirely, would back-stepping even be logical?
Let’s just say, I’m at an impasse, and really want to grow in the world, not skulk back into the familiar zone with financial misery. What would you do?

Catalina is a pretty cool place.
Although I have to comment on the ferry ride, because it's terrible. Would much rather take a private yacht. Ho ho ho.
How does it compare to Brooklyn/NYC year-round? (If there’s any way to compare)
I’ve had thoughts about moving there, but I can’t… unless I reach a certain “level of income.”
